Our Mother’s Day Workshop at 480 Queen Street
What do you get when you combine 20 creative guests, a rooftop with sweeping Brisbane views, locally grown flowers and a table full of pink ceramic vessels? A very good afternoon, obviously.
Earlier this month, Lillipollen hosted a relaxed and beginner-friendly Mother’s Day floral workshop in the beautiful rooftop Grove space at 480 Queen Street, in collaboration with Dexus and the team at 480 Queen. And honestly? Brisbane turned on the weather for us.
Guests gathered around a long communal table overlooking the city skyline, where they spent the afternoon learning the basics of floral design while creating their own bespoke Mother’s Day arrangements. The brief was simple: have fun, get creative, and don’t overthink it. (Excellent life advice in general, really.)
Working with a dreamy selection of locally grown snapdragons and chrysanthemums in soft shades of pink and apricot, participants created arrangements in our signature blush-pink ceramic vessels — each one completely unique. Some designs were soft and romantic, others delightfully wild and textural, and a few guests very quickly revealed suspiciously strong hidden florist energy.
One of our favourite parts of the workshop? Watching people relax into the process. There’s something about flowers that gently asks you to slow down for a moment — trimming stems, playing with colour, stepping back to admire your work while pretending you absolutely meant for that stem placement to happen.
At Lillipollen, we’re passionate about making flowers feel approachable, creative and joyful — not intimidating. You absolutely do not need prior experience to create something beautiful, and this workshop was the perfect reminder of that.
